Abstract:
The BlackGEM Consortium notes that the recently discovered AT2025ajq is located in the outskirts of the giant elliptical galaxy Centaurus A / NGC 5128

The BlackGEM Consortium notes that AT2025ajq is located in the outskirts of the nearby giant elliptical galaxy Centaurus A / NGC 5128. AT2025ajq was discovered by the BlackGEM array of telescopes (Groot et al., 2024) on 2025-01-29 06:15:21 at q=20.1 with two subsequent detections two hours later showing the transient at q=19.7 and 19.8. Observations in the u- and i-bands show 5-sigma upper limits at u>19.2 and i>19.1. The last q-band non-detection was at 2025-01-29 06:07:44 at q>20.7, implying a fast rise.

Follow-up observations are encouraged to characterise AT2025ajq.
