We report that a roughly clear-band image of M101 obtained by
A. V. Filippenko starting 06:03 UTC on 05/19/2023 (exposure time 10 min)
with an 11.4 cm Unistellar eVscope (+ CMOS IMX224 detector;
https://www.unistellar.com) in Woodside, California, reveals SN 2023ixf
at the reported location. The image was stored in jpg format; we
converted it to FITS format and performed quick photometry on the SN,
finding 16.0 +/- 0.3 mag calibrated to USNO-B1.0 R2 mag (we
recommend caution about the derived magnitude owing to the
non-FITS format file conversion). Adopting an exposure midpoint
of 06:08 UTC, this is 1 hour 37 minutes earlier than the ZTF
detection reported by Perley & Irani (AstroNote 2023-120) and
11 hours 21 minutes earlier than Itagaki's discovery.
