TNS Classification Report No. 4343 [ 2019TNSCR1039....1B ]

Jamison Burke, Iair Arcavi, Daichi Hiramatsu, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Craig Pellegrino report/s a classification of object: SN 2019hnl
Type: SN IIRedshift: 0.022869
Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find several good fits to Type II supernovae. The spectrum displays a blue continuum, with clear H emission but weak absorption. Combined with the two day non-detection limits from ATLAS on discovery (AstroNote 2019-34), this indicates that the object is young, probably within a few days of explosion. We take the redshift to be 0.022869 (host galaxy value from NED, consistent with fits). We measure the expansion velocity of the H lines to be about 9,000 km/s. Photometry from LCO shows that the object has a B-band absolute magnitude of about -17 coeval with the spectrum. Further followup is encouraged.
